Selected Artist: London 2026

Ines Fernandez de Cordova

Ines Fernandez de Cordova is a Bolivian-Slovenian artist, currently living and working in London. The work she produces has many stages, its foundation is the sculptures she makes in plaster or jesmonite, using these as tools to create windows to uncanny scenes. Playing with the precarious nature of the sculptures, Fernandez suggests movement through drawing, repetition and collage, using printmaking to hold the composition forever fixed in place. Sequence is a recurrent theme throughout her practice. The mirroring and use of parallels throughout the compositions create the sense of a before and after, a suggestion of some longer story.
Through the ambiguity of the sculptures, these abstract organic forms become evocative of the viewer’s own experience, nudging personal memories into existence. Born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Fernandez moved to London in 2011, where she completed a BA in Illustration and subsequently an MA in Printmaking, both at Camberwell College of Arts. Fernandez has had three solo exhibitions in London including one at Blue Shop Cottage in 2020 and another at Jealous Gallery in 2023. Fernandez has been part of numerous group shows and led print workshops, her latest being at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens in 2025.
