The Venue
Explore a Grade I-listed London landmark transformed by four days of art, performance, music and play.
The Soane Hall is the heart of Fair Play. Designed by Sir John Soane, its 27-foot ceilings, mosaics and stained-glass windows create a dramatic setting for the fair, bringing independent artists together across One Marylebone’s principal ground-floor space.
Move through the Hall, meet the artists and see their work against one of London’s most distinctive architectural backdrops. Live performance and artist-led events will also reshape the room throughout the fair, changing its atmosphere from one hour to the next.
Upstairs, the Galleries form a sweeping U-shaped route through One Marylebone’s East, South and West wings. Double-height ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with natural light, giving the work space to breathe and creating a striking contrast with the Soane Hall below.
Follow the sweep of the Galleries as artists’ booths unfold around the first floor. The open-plan layout brings different practices into view at once, while still giving you time to stop, look closely and speak to the artists behind the work.
Tucked into the Gardens, four Greenhouses offer a series of smaller spaces, each with its own scale and character. Every one will have a different programme, creating intimate settings for food, art and ideas away from the larger rooms of the fair.
Across the four days, they will host supper clubs, artist installations, interventions and other surprises. Some experiences will be announced in advance, while others will reveal themselves as you explore, so it will always be worth looking through the next door.
The Vaults take Fair Play underground. During the day, their mezzanine and lower level will host a changing part of the Play programme, creating space for artist-led events, live performance and sound away from the main exhibition floors.
After dark, the focus turns to music. On selected nights, the Vaults will be transformed into late-night performance and club spaces, carrying Fair Play into the small hours. Full details will be announced soon.
Beyond the exhibition floors, the Gardens are Fair Play’s place to eat, drink and stay awhile. Our friends from El Rayo tequila are taking over the entire space, creating a lively, partially covered setting that will stay active throughout the day and into the evening.
Food comes from Guacamoles, the cult Peckham restaurant, with a restaurant pop-up created for the fair. Drop in for something to eat, stay for a drink or meet friends between events as the garden shifts from daytime hangout to evening gathering.
