Meet our independent Selection Committee who chose the artists for Fair Play 2026, drawing on experience across art, design and culture.

Kate Bryan

Kate Bryan is a British art historian, curator and broadcaster, and Chief Art Director for the Soho House Art Collection. Since 2016 she has overseen its acquisitions and global strategy, growing a collection of more than 10,000 works displayed across 16 countries. She began her career at the British Museum and has worked as an art dealer in London and Hong Kong.

Kate has written and presented programmes for Sky Arts, BBC Four and Sky Arte Italia, and has served as a judge on Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year. She is the author of The Art of Love, Bright Stars and How to Art.

"The quality of the applications and the strength of the final artist line up demonstrates how relevant and necessary Fair Play is. I’m really looking forward to seeing the artists out in full force showcasing some of the brightest names working today."

His clients include Burberry, Comme des Garçons, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace.

Charlotte Buchanan is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Buchanan Studio, overseeing strategy, product, collaborations and partnerships. Before establishing the studio, she spent ten years in advertising, developing partnerships between leading talent, global creative agencies and major brands.

“It's been a huge pleasure to see such a fresh perspective through the work of these 70 artists. It's an exciting, dynamic group and we're excited for them to be discovered by a new generation of collectors.”

Jo Baring

Jo Baring is an art historian, curator and Director of The Ingram Collection of Modern British and Contemporary Art. In 2016 she founded The Ingram Prize, a platform for emerging artists whose alumni have since been nominated for the Turner Prize and whose work has been acquired by Tate and the Government Art Collection. She is a former Director of Christie’s UK and a regular arts writer and speaker.

Jo edited Revisiting Modern British Art and co-writes and presents the podcast Sculpting Lives, named Podcast of the Week by The Guardian and recommended by The Times and the Royal Academy. Her debut book, Totem: The Untold Story of Sculpture, will be published by Canongate in September 2026.

“What I like about Fair Play is the transparency of it. Artists take on no financial risk. There are no upfront fees, so nobody has to gamble on their own success before they've even started. That creates real opportunity for people at the start of their careers.”

— Jo Baring

She lectures on the MA Public and Performative Practices course at London Metropolitan University. Her previous roles include serving on the board of the Atlantic Worlds Gallery at Royal Museums Greenwich and on the steering committee of MINO artspace in Antwerp.

"I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the selection process. It was a wonderful opportunity to encounter such a diverse range of artists, practices and perspectives, and the consistently high calibre of the work made the process both stimulating and rewarding."
