Selected Artist: London 2026
Jo Chate
Jo Chate is a painter; her work examines how women are represented in art and makes reference to historic painting, music and current events, which become combined in her canvases and works on paper. She often uses a mannequin as a stand-in for the female form and uses it to explore how the female figure is placed and represented. Jo Chate lives and works in London. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art with an MA in Painting. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections. This year she has exhibited in a two-person show, New Paintings, at New Art Projects, London, and participated in Encounters with Zarastro Art at the London Art Fair.
Further solo and duo exhibitions include Outliers, Q&C Gallery, Cambridge; Angelis Defensa, Vicoli Poli, Spoleto, Italy; Notes from the White Book, The Perfume Factory, London.
