Leily Moghtader Mojdehi, artist at Fair Play Art Fair 2026

Selected Artist: London 2026

Leily Moghtader Mojdehi

Leily Moghtader Mojdehi is a London-based artist and a BFA graduate from Goldsmiths, University of London (2021). Mojdehi’s multidisciplinary practice is centred around collage. She works across and often intersects painting, textiles, sculpture, and installation. Weaving inspiration from millennia-old ancient traditions, digital clouds, and personal narratives, Mojdehi creates layered works from everyday artefacts. Pulling from familial and historical archives, Mojdehi adopts and assembles different visual languages, including Persian miniatures, Qajar portraits, craft, humour, and kitsch. Creating works upon this assembly of inherited and collected materials and techniques, Mojdehi crafts narratives rooted in personal memories that leak into collective histories.
An intimate exploration of self and a reflection on the systems, environments, and media in which identities are moulded. This playful mixing creates a gentle confusion between the real and the representational in densely layered collage compositions, telling embellished stories of unplaceable experiences. She has exhibited at galleries and museums internationally, including Quench (Margate), South London Gallery (London), Ferens Art Gallery (Hull), Saatchi Gallery (London) and Zhan Art I Space (Selangor, Malaysia). She was selected for the 2022 Bloomberg New Contemporaries, shortlisted for the Ingram Prize (2023), and commissioned by Tate Collective (2024).
