Selected Artist: London 2026

Lisa King

Lisa King is a London-based artist whose practice spans textiles, print and material research working in the medium of batik, an Indonesian wax resist dyeing technique. Inspired by nature and her cross-cultural upbringing, she grew up in Bangkok in a home full of antique Southeast Asian textiles. Spending several years sharing a studio with florists would lead her to observe flowers and gardens, and develop a practice rooted in experimentation with photography, ink, and hand-led techniques. She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and began her early career under creative director William Baker on Kylie Minogue’s tours.
Lisa’s commissioned work spans fashion, interiors, hospitality, and performance. In recent years, she has turned toward batik as a way of exploring lineage, healing, and preservation, working closely with artisans to honour traditional techniques while reimagining them through her own graphic language. Her work has been featured in The Design Museum, London Craft Week, and London Design Festival, and has garnered press coverage in British Vogue, The Times, and NOWNESS.
