Roxana Hartmann

Born in Bolivia, Roxana Hartmann is a visual artist and writer living and working in New York. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Kansas State University, United States, in 2000, and began a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at St. Joseph’s University, Brooklyn, in 2025. Hartmann was a 2025–2026 Barbara Germak Fellow and an Artist-in-Residence in Painting at the School of Visual Arts, New York, in 2025. She was also an Artist-in-Residence in Contemporary Art Theory at Uberbau_house, São Paulo, in 2018.
Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and the United States, and has been included in group exhibitions in the United States, Bolivia and France. As an author, Hartmann published the limited-edition artist book Un Asunto de Vida (2023) and the essay El arte que no vemos y su relación con la sociedad in Percontari No. 19 (2018). Her work is held in several public and private collections.
