Tom Cartmill

Working from a rural studio near Reading, Cartmill’s practice occupies a space between drawing and sculpture. His sculptural drawings and mixed-media works have emerged from a sustained engagement with the materials and with geometry, pattern and tessellation, informed by years spent working in art studios in Sicily and Southern Spain. His work is in numerous public and private collections and has been regularly exhibited at The Royal Academy of Arts, London; The Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh; The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol.
Among his accolades, he is a recipient of the Rabley Gallery Editioning Prize and the SSA Purcell Paper Prize awarded at the Royal Scottish Academy.
