Passing by the house

Edition:
Medium: Embroidery on cotton
Size: 115 x 260 cm

Looking back at the House is two things at once:

It is a souvenir attached to the side of a road: the feeling of having left a home, of returning to somewhere once deeply familiar and, eventually, of no longer stopping there, because the reason for stopping no longer inhabits the house, but their lingering presence does.

At the same time, the landscape is as quiet as it is strong and imposing, translating the essence of the woman it depicts.

Her presence is never represented directly, but exists through the place itself and through what remains after her absence.

The work becomes both landscape and portrait: an attempt to hold the trace of someone without fixing her into a single image.
